Yemen President Rashid al-Alimi urges mobilization and offers amnesty to Houthi rebels

On Friday, Yemen’s Riyadh‑based President Rashid al‑Alimi urged the nation’s citizens to mobilise and join the armed forces in response to the ongoing conflict with the Iran‑backed Houthi rebels. He called for a collective effort to counter the insurgency that has disrupted the country’s stability.

In a separate announcement, President al‑Alimi offered a general amnesty to the Houthi rebels. The rebels have seized large swaths of Yemen’s Red Sea coast and imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, actions that have intensified the regional crisis.
