Typhoon Dujuan causes four deaths in Japan as heavy rains hit Tokyo

A tropical storm that swept across eastern Japan has moved offshore, ending a brief period of heavy rainfall and strong winds that affected Tokyo and its neighboring prefectures. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that the system, which had been tracked as Storm Kiro, made landfall on the Kanto coast late Tuesday before accelerating eastward and exiting the Pacific early Wednesday.

During its passage, the storm produced localized downpours exceeding 150 mm in some districts and wind gusts up to 70 km/h, prompting temporary flood alerts and the suspension of several train services. Authorities recorded minor flooding in low‑lying neighborhoods, scattered power outages affecting roughly 3,000 households, and a handful of road closures for debris removal. No fatalities or serious injuries were reported, and emergency crews continue to assess damage as the weather stabilizes.
