Trump Signs Deal to Expand U.S. Military Presence in Greenland

The United States has secured an agreement that will broaden its military footprint in Greenland. Under the terms, Washington will modernise and expand the existing Pituffik Space Base, a key satellite‑tracking facility, and will create new defence zones at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig.

The plan involves upgrading infrastructure at Pituffik to accommodate larger aircraft and additional support equipment, while the new areas at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig will be developed for joint training exercises and rapid deployment capabilities. The expansion is intended to strengthen Arctic security and improve the United States’ ability to respond to emerging threats in the region.

The agreement marks a significant step in U.S. Arctic strategy, reinforcing the partnership with Greenland and Denmark and enhancing the overall readiness of U.S. forces in the high‑latitude environment.
