Tesla Semi Begins Volume Production After Decade-Long Wait
Tesla has finally moved its long‑anticipated Semi truck from concept to volume production. First revealed in 2017, the heavy‑duty electric vehicle entered mass manufacturing in April 2026 after nearly a decade of development. On Thursday evening the company staged another event to showcase the finished product to customers and investors, signaling that the wait was over.
The demonstration took place at Tesla’s new Semi factory adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada, where the company claims a production capacity of 50,000 trucks per year, or roughly 1,000 per week. The event’s primary purpose was to announce a slate of new and returning customers for the Semi, underscoring the vehicle’s commercial readiness.
Among the announced clients are PepsiCo, US Foods, DHL, WattEV, ABF, Einride, IMC, and OK P. The Tesla Semi is now in volume production, with a new factory capable of 50,000 trucks per year and a roster of customers including PepsiCo and DHL.
