Silent Hill and Resident Evil at Height of Their Powers

For the third year in a row, the author has been “scared out of my wits” by a new Silent Hill title. The sequence began with the modern remake of Silent Hill 2, followed by the Japan‑set spinoff Silent Hill F, and most recently the author has been navigating a quaint Scottish town in Silent Hill: Townfall, trying to avoid being brutally murdered by demonic creatures that chase him through the streets.

The series has experienced a remarkable turnaround after a period when it seemed to be on life support. This revival coincides with a strong run from Resident Evil across games and film, placing both franchises at the height of their powers. The renewed vitality of Silent Hill and the continued success of Resident Evil underscore the current strength of gaming’s biggest horror series.
