More than 100 Democratic operatives urge party leaders to reject AI cash

More than 170 Democratic organizers and campaign staff members have urged the party’s leadership to refuse contributions from the pro‑artificial intelligence super PAC Leading the Future (LTF). The group released a letter to The Hill on Friday, arguing that the millions of dollars flowing from LTF could unduly influence the party’s stance on AI policy as Washington intensifies its debate over safety and regulation. The letter contends that accepting such funds would create a conflict of interest, especially as lawmakers consider new rules for autonomous systems, data privacy, and the ethical use of AI.

LTF, founded by prominent AI advocates, has pledged to support candidates who champion rapid technological advancement and reduced regulatory barriers. The letter’s authors claim that this alignment risks prioritizing corporate interests over public safety concerns. They call on the Democratic National Committee and congressional leaders to adopt a policy of rejecting LTF contributions and to establish clearer guidelines for accepting money from groups with specific policy agendas.
