In her new memoir, I Can’t Tell You But I Will, Magda Szubanski recounts an incident from the 2006 Australian Film Institute awards where Heath Ledger spontaneously kissed her after she screamed at him while wandering the red carpet in character as Sharon Strzelecki from Kath and Kim. Szubanski described pretending to faint following the improvised moment, which she noted was a significant event at the time.

Szubanski reveals that Ledger was so fond of this unscripted interaction that he contacted her the following day to ask if he could play Sharon’s stalker on the sitcom.
