Macron says France will not reduce Ukraine support

Paris – French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters on Thursday that the “coalition of the willing” backing Ukraine will not waver in its support, emphasizing continued political, economic and military assistance for Kyiv amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. Speaking at a press briefing in the Elysee Palace, Macron responded to recent Russian escalations near the front lines and reiterated France’s commitment to uphold the collective resolve of the coalition.

The president highlighted that the coalition, comprising NATO members, European Union states and other partner nations, has already delivered billions of euros in aid, advanced weaponry—including air‑defence systems and artillery—and imposed coordinated sanctions targeting Russian financial and energy sectors. He noted that France will increase its contributions this year, citing a new package of military equipment and additional humanitarian assistance, and underscored that the alliance’s unity remains essential as the upcoming NATO summit in Washington prepares to review further support measures.
