Kairos Power secures up to $100 million from Samsung C&T for 50‑MW nuclear plant

Future Google supplier Kairos Power has signed a construction agreement with Samsung C&T to develop its inaugural 50‑megawatt nuclear power plant. The partnership, announced on Tuesday, marks Kairos Power’s first step toward commercializing its advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology, which the company touts as a low‑cost, carbon‑free energy solution for data centers and other high‑demand users.

Under the deal, Samsung C&T will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the plant, which is slated for completion within the next several years. The project aligns with broader industry trends toward modular nuclear deployments and reflects Google’s ongoing interest in diversifying its energy portfolio with clean, reliable sources. Kairos Power’s collaboration with the South Korean construction firm positions the company to scale its SMR design, potentially paving the way for additional units and expanding the role of nuclear power in the United States’ future energy mix.
