Internet restricted as fighting breaks out in Ethiopia's Tigray region

Internet access has been restricted in Ethiopia’s Tigray region following the outbreak of fresh fighting, officials said. The move comes as authorities seek to control communications amid renewed hostilities in the area.

During the two‑year civil war in Tigray, the region was totally cut off from the outside world, and the current internet restrictions echo that earlier isolation. The restrictions were imposed immediately after the latest clashes began.
