Google nears launch of Gemini 4 model, says DeepMind chief

Google is reportedly close to launching its long‑awaited Gemini 4 model, a development that has come after the company has lagged behind rival developers on flagship AI releases. The announcement comes as Google’s new DeepMind chief, Koray Kavukcuoglu, made his first media appearance.

Speaking with The Information, Kavukcuoglu said Gemini 4 is currently in a refinement stage and that Google is aiming to launch the model “much earlier” than the end of the year. He added that the company intends to release an early post‑training output as soon as possible because the results are encouraging, and that Google will continue its fast‑paced iteration.
