Google launches first five Googlebook laptops
Google has officially launched its first line of laptops under the new “Googlebook” brand, with five models from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo available for preorder today. The devices, slated to hit retail shelves on October 4, will compete directly with the MacBook Air and a wide range of Windows notebooks, with starting prices between $899 and $1,299. Each Googlebook comes pre‑installed with 12 months of Google AI Pro and 5 TB of cloud storage, plus complimentary three‑month trials of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop and CapCut.
In addition to the bundled software, Google is offering up to a decade of system updates, positioning the new laptops as long‑term, secure options for consumers. The lineup features a mix of hardware specifications tailored to the five partner manufacturers, but all models share the same core promise of extended support and integrated AI tools. Detailed specifications, such as processor options, display sizes and battery life, will be released in the coming weeks as the launch approaches.
With the Googlebook debut, Google is expanding its hardware footprint beyond smartphones and tablets, aiming to capture a share of the mid‑range laptop market. The company’s strategy of bundling AI services and cloud storage with each device underscores its push to embed AI capabilities into everyday computing.
