Flock Faces Senate Hearing Over AI Surveillance Network

Flock is currently in the hot seat in Washington, as its CEO declined to testify before a Senate Judiciary crime and counterterrorism subcommittee hearing on Wednesday about the company’s “AI Surveillance Network.” The hearing focused on the company’s role in the industry, with the subcommittee chair noting that Flock stands out among its peers.

Senate Judiciary crime and counterterrorism subcommittee chair Josh Hawley (R‑MO) said, “There’s many players in this industry, but there’s one name that really stands out above the rest, and that is Flock,” adding, “If you haven’t heard of Flock, all I have to say is, Flock’s probably heard of you.” Hawley reported that the CEOs of Flock, Axon, Motorola Solutions, and Verkada declined to testify, and that seats in the hearing room were in high demand, with a standby line stretching down the hall.
