CNN, MSNBC and Politico sue Trump administration over White House ban

CNN, MSNBC and Politico filed a lawsuit on Monday against the administration of President Donald Trump, challenging a recent ban that prohibited their reporters from entering White House grounds. The media outlets argue that the restriction, which they say was imposed because of the content of their coverage, constitutes a “blatant violation” of the First Amendment. The suit seeks an injunction to lift the ban and to prevent the government from imposing similar limitations on other news organizations.

France 24’s Kethevane Gorjestani described the ban as an escalation of Trump’s long‑standing attempts to curb news coverage he deems objectionable. Legal analysts note that the case raises questions about the balance between executive authority over security and press access and constitutional protections for free speech and a free press. The administration has not yet responded to the filing, and the lawsuit is expected to proceed through the federal courts.
