The Boring Company, the tunnel‑construction venture founded by Elon Musk, has announced a series of high‑profile projects since its inception in 2016, ranging from a rapid‑transit loop beneath the Las Vegas Convention Center to proposed underground highways linking major metropolitan areas. While the Las Vegas Loop became operational in 2021 and a test tunnel in Texas was completed in 2022, a number of other initiatives have stalled. Planned tunnels in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and a hyperloop corridor between New York and Washington have yet to receive construction permits, secure financing, or commence ground‑breaking, and several have been formally postponed or quietly abandoned.
