2027 Africa Cup of Nations set for Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, marking the first time the three East African nations will share the continent’s premier football tournament. The decision follows a competitive bidding process and reflects CAF’s strategy to promote regional cooperation and expand the tournament’s footprint across multiple venues.

A total of 24 teams will qualify for the finals, with the host nations automatically securing three of the spots. The remaining 21 places will be contested through a series of qualification matches scheduled to begin in early 2025, culminating in a final tournament that will showcase Africa’s top football talent across the three host countries. The co‑hosting arrangement is expected to boost infrastructure development and fan engagement ahead of the competition.
